What Makes Us Different

Hello! JR here 🙂 Last month, I had a wonderful opportunity to speak in front of BNI’s Ventura Chapter (a business networking organization). I love every opportunity to connect with fellow business owners and talk about what makes Concours Motors unique. What makes us different? We know that we are working on a family’s car: a vehicle that takes you to work, to the grocery store; a car that takes your kids to school. Because of this, your safety is our utmost priority. Concours Motors is built on the concept of specialization; we hire only highly-trained specialty technicians who concentrate on select niche brands, which allows us to provide the best possible service to you and your vehicle. We do what is right–not what is easy At Concours, we only recommend the services you need, and we treat our customers like royalty. When you come in, you can enjoy our beverage station (with coffee and pastries), high-speed wi-fi, and a play area for your kids, all while your car is being serviced in the cleanest shop you have ever seen. If you don’t want to wait, our complimentary shuttle will give you a ride home, or whenever you’d like to go in town. We stay current. Keeping up with the times is very important to us. We perform digital inspections; our technicians use iPads to communicate the findings of your car, through images sent via email or text messages. We believe in total transparency; our exceptional technology allows us to show you what is going on with your car so that you are never left with unanswered questions. We...

We’re Giving Away Another Car: Wheels to Shine 2018

We’re Giving Away Another Car: Wheels to Shine 2018 As a Ventura-based business for over 30 years, we are aware of how uniquely beautiful this community is—we live steps away from the beach and are surrounded by wonderful people. Because of this, it is very important for us to give back to our community, which we have done in many different ways (financially, co-sponsoring beach cleanups, speaking to students in high schools, etc.) Then we realized — our mechanical skills are the most valuable thing we can give back to our community. We actually can change someone’s life. Wheels To Shine is an annual program we started in 2017, in which we donate a car to a deserving member of Ventura County. Last May, we gave a 2000 Volkswagen Golf to Marina Limon Porter, a formerly homeless single mother who works tirelessly on behalf of her family and community. This car changed Marina’s life, and, symbiotically, the lives of those around her. Thanks to Wheels to Shine, Marina was able to take on three jobs and play a bigger role in Step Up Ventura, a non-profit organization she supports. This year, we are giving away another Volkswagen; we need YOUR help to determine who it goes to. Along with the car, Concours will donate one year of free service to the recipient. This is an extraordinary opportunity to directly and immediately improve the life of someone committed to improving the lives of those around them. We can’t wait to meet this year’s recipient. Pricing at Concours Motors: Specialty European Repair

You—our customer—are the most important thing to us at Concours Motors. Your safety and satisfaction is the reason we do what we do, and we are honored to have you as a part of the Concours community. A few weeks ago, a prospective customer asked us about the pricing of our synthetic oil change service—the $99.95 special, which includes a baseline diagnostic report to identify all and any issues a vehicle may be having. We really appreciated the question, because it gave us an opportunity to sit down and write out what sets us apart as a Specialty European Repair Shop. Take a Peek into European Pricing: An average German car requires eight quarts of synthetic oil with a specific rating (LL-01), priced at $10.00 a quart. We use only the highest quality oil filters, as inferior products will disintegrate and clog up the oil passages with pieces of cardboard. Here are a couple of pictures we took at the shop to demonstrate what we mean: Left to right, cheap filter and good filter. Badly disintegrated filter: we couldn’t remove the pieces. A good filter costs $11.00—this, combined with the cost of eight quarts of specialized synthetic oil (at $10 per quart), totals $91.00. *Price Note: We order our parts directly from our wholesale parts providers. It may be possible to find a slightly lower price for some parts on Amazon.com. Of course, while our providers can provide parts within hours, ordering from Amazon would create at least a 24-hour delay for each repair. Of course, we don’t stop there in providing incredible value. Our incredible Master Technicians perform all repairs at Concours with professional-grade...

5 Tips for Driving With Your Dog

We get it. Dog is man’s best friend. How can you not ride around the town with your favorite pup? But as wonderful as your pup is, driving in cars with dogs isn’t always smooth sailing. Here are some things you can do to make your adventures together all the more enjoyable… Buy a barrier There are many styles of barriers on the market to prevent your pup from joining you in the driver’s seat. Some can be installed in the back to stop the dog from even getting on your back seats, while others simply restrict access to the front of the car. Either option in a safe choice. Here are some of the different types out there. Get paw wipes You may love riding around with your best friend, but let’s be honest…your BFF doesn’t always have the best manners and is known to track mud everywhere after a nice walk. Storing some wipes in your car is a must if you’re an avid hiker or if it’s been raining. Here are some natural and allergen free grooming wipes. Buckle up You aren’t the only one who needs to be buckled in. Belts and tethers are ideal for the dog who is prone to jumping or sliding around your car. It can be used in lieu of a seat barrier to keep your dog off your lap while driving. Here is the one that performed best in a crash test by the Center for Pet Safety. Stay hydrated It’s a safe bet that you don’t exercise or run errands without some water along the way. Your dog...

What is Wheels to Shine?

In May 2017, we’ll be giving away a 2000 Volkswagen Golf to someone in Ventura County who needs it. We did the work to get this car in excellent running condition, detailed, and ready to change someone’s everyday experience of life. We are stoked to meet the person who will drive this every day. Check it out: We’ve gotten the car ready to give away, but we want to make sure it goes to the person who’s life it would change the most. We really want to make a difference with this car. We need our community to help us choose a recipient. Do you know anyone in Ventura County who’s life would change if they had a great car? Nominate Them → Here’s why we’re doing it… “We” are the team at Concours Motors in Ventura. Concours Motors has been serving Ventura County families since 1982, with speciality parts and master technicians, specifically focused on European vehicles. We have been very lucky to continuously grow over the years, so that today most people who live in Ventura recognize our well-kept shop on Thompson. We believe in businesses should give back to the community that sustains them. We’ve had our doors open in the city of Ventura for 35 years. This means that we’ve had community members in our shop every day, Monday through Friday, for almost four decades. We’ve gotten to know and care about everyone and their families. The simple truth is, without the support and loyalty of our customers and our community, there would be no Concours Motors. And that’s why we think it’s so important to give back. We realized that the best way...

10 Simple Car Care Tips to Keep Your Car in Great Condition Throughout the Years

Concours Motors is a Specialty European Auto Shop in Ventura, CA. That means we see a lot of really nice cars, every day. Want to know the difference between a really nice car that lasts a long time and every other car? You guessed it. It’s the owner. We want you to be one of those “lucky” owners who posts the 200,000 miles marker on Facebook with the status: “And still running strong!” Here’s how you do it: Tip 1: Get your oil changed every 5,000 - 7,000 miles and use a reliable brand You’ve heard it before, I’m sure of it. “Engine oil is the lifeblood of your engine.” It keeps your car running. And when you let the same oil sit in your engine for too long, it can build up metals like oil that are insoluble and can cause major wear and tear on the parts of your engine, like the camshaft and cylinder liners. Long story short, changing your oil with good quality oil will ensure that what’s moving through your engine’s arteries and keeping it running well for a long time. Want to learn more about it? This article made me laugh and explains it perfectly.  Tip 2: Clean your car, inside and out, at least once a month and clean up bird poop or tree pollen off immediately Did you know when you don’t wash your car for a while it can build up a residue that degrades the paint? Even on the interior of your car, the build-up of dirt and grime can eventually lead to situations (like stains) that are much more difficult to clean. And on the subject of...

Concours Motors & Asian Autotech of Ventura are Fundraising for Breast Cancer

You probably wouldn’t expect auto shops to be raising funds for breast cancer. But then, you might not know that a huge percentage of our customers, both at Concours Motors and Asian Autotech of Ventura, are women; especially mothers (many of whom are at the age where breast cancer is commonly discovered in women). October is breast cancer awareness month, so we wanted to share a few facts from the National Breast Cancer Foundation (who we’ll be donating to) about this very common cancer: One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women. Each year it is estimated that over 246,660 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. Although breast cancer in men is rare, an estimated 2,600 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 440 will die each year. On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and 1 woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes. Over 2.8 million breast cancer survivors are alive in the United States today. Helping women fight breast cancer is a very important to us, and we want to help as much as we can. Both Concours Motors and Asian Autotech will donate $100 per shop for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here’s what you can do: Come in to either shop this month and let us put a (non-damaging) shop sticker on your car. For...
